Rehabilitation Care Workers

Three Rehabilitation Care Workers (RCWs) are part of the Rehabilitation Service.  They are trained as mid-level care workers (Level 4) having completed a one-year course at the University of Cape Town.  Their role in the rehabilitation service is to assist the therapists, augmenting implementation across disciplines.  At all times they are supervised and monitored by therapists and implement treatment plans which are drawn up by therapists, providing group stimulation and individual treatment.  The RCWs have an important role in in-patient treatment and also in follow-up when the children are discharged, providing therapy during home visits and observing the progress of the patient.
